The Zugspitz glacier railway is operated with wire ropes from VORNBÄUMEN. To be more precise, we supplied the haul rope with a diameter of 34 mm and the so-called counter rope with a diameter of 30 mm. Both ropes are 1100 m long each and offer continuously tested safety for visitors to the Zugspitze.
The Zugspitzgletscherbahn connects the Zugspitzplatt with the 2962-metre summit of Germany’s highest mountain, the Zugspitze.
Both ropes easily withstand the extreme weather conditions at this altitude.
